Farm Market September-October
|
|
|
|
The height of our year comes right now! We love for visitors from far and near to come view the beautiful foliage of Geauga County and take in the wonderful aroma of freshly picked apples and the just made apple cider.
The tantalizing smells of the bakery and the eye popping colors of a myriad of pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn make the market an exciting place to be. In fact, our employees often remark that the excitement of the people mixed with the crisp air and harvest fever make Patterson´s the best way to experience autumn.
It is great fun to mingle at the market while purchasing the freshest and highest quality produce. To add a touch of adventure, just drive the 1 1/2 miles to our farm where you can pick your own apples and visit our Family Fun Fest.
Pick-Your-Own Apples
Apple picking is another great family activity we offer on Saturdays and Sundays during September and part of October. Hop on the haywagon and ride out to the orchards for your favorite variety and pick as many as you like – just a few to eat or bushels to store for winter. The peak of the pick your own season is mid-September through mid-October. Typically, the PYO season is one week earlier than the dates listed on the following chart. PYO apples are also available from Sept.18th to late October during the week from 10:00 - 5:00.
The Family Fun Fest (Sept. 13, 2008 - Nov. 02, 2008)
Bring the family, pack a lunch (or visit our concession stand) and relax in our outdoor farm fun area – designed to allow your family to choose the pace and activities you most enjoy together. You can play in our hay stacks, try our tree house in the woods, wander through our corn maze and take a wonderful nature hike through the ravines and hills of Geauga County. The admission fee includes a wagon ride. You can ride a horse drawn wagon to a pumpkin patch to pick a pumpkin on weekends. During public hours you can also paint a pumpkin for a fee. Of course, picking your own pumpkin right out of the field is a delightful activity as well on those great fall days!
The fest is open on weekends from September 13 through November 2, including NEOEA Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a cost of $6.00 per person. Weekdays are open to the public from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. and everything is a little more laid-back. You need to bring your own food. The cost is $4.00 per person. Pumpkin painting is available these afternoons as well as on weekends.

Freshly-Pressed Apple Cider
Our freshly-pressed apple cider is available fresh from September through March at our store and 100 other local grocery stores. In June we begin selling cider we have frozen in season for the summer. (just as good).
Our process of cider making involves taking the freshly-pressed apple cider and removing the pulp by a filtering process which removes the sediment found on the bottom of most other cider. Our cider is pasteurized to ensure safety. There is a small amount (not more than .1 of 1 %) of preservative (potassium sorbate) to increase shelf life.
We feel our cider is the best there is to offer in the industry. We invite you to try some today.
