We love to share our warm fireplace and beautiful snowy scenery. Yes, the peaches, sweet corn and pumpkins are long gone, but good crisp apples, sweet cider and freshly baked pies are still waiting for you.
Good Crisp Apples in February?
Yes! Due to CA (Controlled Atmosphere) storage we are able to keep our apples as crisp as the day they were picked year round. In fact some apples, such as Fugi and Goldrush, are at their peak during the winter months. The CA process forces the ripening gases (oxygen and ethylene) out of the cooler, thus preventing the ripening process from breaking down the carbohydrates into sugars. Please come in and ask for a sample of our CA apples during the winter. Shipping is available with our CA apples.
Tree Tappin' Time - Maple Syrup
Late February and March brings us into the woods to tap those maple trees. We gather the sweet sap on a warm day following a freezing cold night, and finally boil it until the water has evaporated, leaving the delightful syrup for us to savor.
The weather determines how much maple syrup is made each year and many customers stock up before we close each spring. When remembering friends and family, consider sending them the natural gift of Geauga County - pure maple syrup.
